Located between Lamberton and Sanborn, this large through truss bridge crosses the Cottonwood River.
Built in 1919 as part of a series of upgrades through the area, the bridge features a single riveted Quadrangular Through Truss. Heavily built, the truss was also approached by a single deck girder, and a number of trestle spans.
Since construction, the bridge has been upgraded. The most significant upgrade was the addition of a second deck girder span in approximately 2000.
The bridge rests on concrete, steel and timber pile substructures. The truss is a typical design for the railroad, although is one of the youngest remaining of such structures. It features a heavy skew, not commonly seen.
Overall, te bridge appears to be in fair condition. A detailed inspection could not be made.
The author has ranked the bridge as being moderately significant, due to the truss design.
